<idAbs>Il censimento dei siti minerari dismessi è stato realizzato da APAT (oggi ISPRA) a partire dal comma 1 dell’articolo 22 della legge 179 del 31/07/02 “Disposizioni in materia ambientale”, che recita: «... il Ministro dell'ambiente e della tutela del territorio effettua il censimento di tutti i siti minerari abbandonati».
L’ambito di applicazione di tale censimento è stato definito a partire dal 1870, anno in cui, con l’annessione di Roma, può dirsi compiuto il processo di Unità d’Italia, e riguarda tutti i minerali solidi di prima categoria come definiti all’art. 2 del RD n. 1443 del 29/07/1927. Sono esclusi, pertanto, i combustibili liquidi (petrolio) e gassosi (metano), le acque minerali, termali e i fluidi geotermici.
Il “censimento dei siti minerari dismessi” su tutto il territorio nazionale è stato pubblicato con un aggiornamento al 2006.</idAbs>
